ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS
HONOR COLUMBIA H.S. FENCER HALEY HART
2011 NEW JERSEY STATE INDIVIDUAL EPEE CHAMPION

(Newark, NJ) – The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored Haley Hart, a junior at Columbia High School, for winning the 2011 New Jersey State Individual Epee Championship on March 13, 2011.  The ceremony was held during the Board’s meeting on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at South Orange Village Hall.

During her state championship season, Haley compiled an impressive overall record of 47-7, which included going undefeated, 11-0, when she captured the District 3 Championship for the second consecutive year.  She also compiled an outstanding 12-2 record when she competed in the prestigious Santelli Tournament on January 8th, against fencers from 55 other high schools from across New Jersey.  As a member of the Columbia H. S. Girls Fencing Team, she also helped the Epee Team capture the 2011 District 3 Girls Epee Championship.
