ESSEX COUNTY EXECUTIVE DIVINCENZO RECOGNIZES EMPLOYEES WITH TEAMWORK AWARDS

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. presented seven County employees
with Essex County Teamwork Awards for October during an informal ceremony
Wednesday, October 8th in his office.
"I am impressed
with our Teamwork Award winners this month because they epitomize the commitment
and personal dedication I want all our employees to strive for," DiVincenzo

the Teamwork Awards for October are as follows:
J. Del Plato of Roseland is an attorney in the County Counsel's Office where
he specializes in health and governmental affairs and has represented Essex
County in litigation involving the Essex County jail system since 1988.
A County employee for 16 years, he was recognized for being a "consummate
professional" and a "team leader."
Derricotte of South Orange has been an engineer in the Department of Public
Works for 16 years. He has worked on seven of the 12 County playgrounds
that were upgraded this year and completed the design of a traffic signal
and intersection improvements at Broadway and Arlington Avenue in Newark
in just three months in response to the public's concern about safety.
Holiday of Newark has been a Senior Clerk Typist in the Department of Economic
Development, Training and Employment for almost three years and is responsible
for accurately maintaining 400 personnel files. Described as "the backbone"
of the office, she is committed to her job, always pleasant and never complains
about any task.
Officer Mark Jackson of East Orange has worked in the Essex County Jail
Processing Department for 17 of his 20 years with the Department of Public
Safety Division of Corrections. Sometimes admitting as many as 60 inmates
during a single shift, he was described as "a consistent example of
a dedicated and trustworthy officer."
Norman Jr. of East Orange is a 21-year employee of Essex County and currently
works for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs as the
Park Supervisor in Ivy Hill Park in Newark and Orange Park. He worked his
way up through the ranks and, since being named Supervisor, has made significant
improvement in the parks he manages.
Seay of Newark has worked for Essex County for five years and has been Special
Transportation Manager in the Department of Citizen Services for the last
two and a half years. She has become a Certified Community Transportation
Supervisor and Certified Community Transit Manager and personally monitors
Essex County's Night Owl and Route 10 Reverse Commute Pilot Program by following
the buses on their routes.
Ila H. Shah of Wayne is Clinical Manager of Patient Care at the Essex County
Hospital Center and has been employed by Essex County for 22 years. She
was recognized for her thorough and caring relationship with her patients
and their families.
Department Directors from each of the County's seven departments nominated
employees for this award. The chosen employees exemplify the County Executive's
goal for a unified, cooperative workforce that provides good customer service.
Employees who were honored were invited to attend an informal reception in
the County Executive's Office where they received a citation from the County
Executive. Pictures of the winners are on display on the fourth floor of the
Hall of Records outside of the County Executive's Office and will remain there
during the month of October.
