Message from County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr.:

Essex County is a great place to live, work and play, and there are many recreational opportunities available here. I am excited to live here and am eager to let people know what our County has to offer.

Our park system is the oldest in the country and our 17 parks and five reservations provide a tranquil and peaceful setting for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of our busy streets. For those who seek more organized activities, we have ice skating and roller skating rinks, a minor league baseball stadium, a 15-acre zoo and three golf courses. Planned for the future is a state-of-the-art Environmental Education Center where children and adults will be able to learn about the environment while interacting with nature. We also always have ongoing improvements at all our park facilities.

I invite you and your family to participate in the activities Essex County offers and to visit our many recreation facilities. Come for the morning or afternoon, or spend the whole day; we have something every member of your family will enjoy. Our admission fees are affordable and there are recreational opportunities located throughout the County. Our venues are easy to travel to, and safe and convenient parking is available at each site.
