ESSEX COUNTY EXECUTIVE DIVINCENZO ANNOUNCES MAJOR FACELIFT FOR
Historic Essex County Park administration Building IS UNDERWAY
90-Year Old Facility to be Restored and Modernized
Essex County, NJ – Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced that the 90-year-old Essex County Historic Parks Administration Building will be fully restored to its original 1916 state. In addition to the restoration, the building will be upgraded with modern amenities and equipment to meet today’s technological needs. The building is scheduled to be under renovation for five months.
The building will be closed to the public while renovations are taking place. Park Administration offices have been temporarily relocated to:

The Essex County Park System was created in 1895 and is the first county park system established in the United States. The Park System consists of more than 6,000 acres and has 17 parks, five reservations, an environmental center, a zoo, ice skating rink, roller skating rink, three public golf courses, golf driving range and an off-leash dog facility. Opened in 1916, the Parks Administration Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
