ESSEX COUNTY EXECUTIVE DIVINCENZO INVITES CHILDREN TO PARTICIPATE
IN VACATION CAMPS AT ESSEX COUNTY TURTLE BACK ZOO,
ESSEX COUNTY CODEY ARENA AND ESSEX COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER
Essex County, NJ – Essex County Executive DiVincenzo invites children of all ages to participate in several spring and summer camp opportunities at Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, Essex County Codey Arena and the Essex County Environmental Center. These affordable programs provide children of all ages with a fun and enriching experience while school is on recess.
“Learning about nature and animals is an exciting hands-on activity when you visit Essex County Turtle Back Zoo or our Environmental Center. And hit the ice at Codey Arena to hone your figure skating skills,” DiVincenzo said. “Our affordable camps provide youngsters with unique learning opportunities that are fun and affordable. We invite you to experience Essex County and participate in the many recreational and educational opportunities that will excite people of all ages,” he added.
Essex County Turtle Back Zoo is offering a week-long Zoo Camp adventure that will introduce children to the extraordinary world of animals, nature, and science. Campers will enjoy age-appropriate themed activities that include games, teacher-led lessons, up-close animal encounters, hands-on science, and fun crafts. Open registration begins Monday, March 5th online at www.turtlebackzoo.com under the education tab where you will find Zoo Camp. The Essex County Environmental Center is offering its 2012 Nature Explorers Spring Camp for children in pre-kindergarten to 4th grade. Camps for children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten include Bugs and Butterflies from July 9-13 and Budding Birders from July 16-20. The camps are held from 1-4 p.m. each day and cost $150 per week or $115 per child for New Jersey Audubon members. Camps for children in grades 1 and 2 include Reptiles and Amphibians from July 23-27 and Nature Adventurers from July 30 to August 3. The camps are held from 1-5 p.m. each day and cost $170 per week or $135 per child for NJA members. Camps for children in grades 3 and 4 include Junior Naturalists from August 6-10 and Lenape Living from August 13-17. The camps are held from 1-5 p.m. each day and cost $190 per week or $155 per child for NJA members. For additional information, call the Environmental Center at 973-228-8776. A fun-filled Figure Skating camp is available for children of all ages and skill levels at Essex County Codey Arena. The first week will be held June 25-30 and costs $400 for the full week or $285 for half-day sessions. The second week will be held July 2-6 (camp will not be held on July 4) and costs $320 for the full four days or $160 for two days. For more information, call the Arena at 973-731-3828, Ext. 0.
