Fill Your Summer Nights with the Sweet Sounds of the 2007 Essex County SummerMusic Concert Series

Essex County, NJ - Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to liven their summer evenings by coming out and enjoying the 2007 Essex County Free SummerMusic Concert Series.

"Our Free SummerMusic Concert Series showcases a diverse group of professional artists who perform a variety of musical styles that are sure to please everyone. It's a great opportunity to be entertained by an exciting concert as you enjoy the tranquility of our parks during the beautiful summer nights," DiVincenzo noted.

Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso with The Cultural Explosion Dancers
Ray Rodriguez was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City's Spanish Harlem and Brooklyn. He began his musical career at an early age and studied at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Rodriguez and Swing Sabroso formed in 2001 and perform a distinct "salsa dura" sound. The band will be joined by The Cultural Explosion Dancers, a leader in Latin dance entertainment. The performance by Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso with The Cultural Explosion Dancers was rescheduled due to inclement weather and will be held as follows:

The Angels Caribbean Band

The Angels Caribbean Band is the featured group in a West Indian Caribbean Concert sponsored by the City of Orange. The band, led by Amar "Vinod" Bisram, is a versatile group of dynamic and talented musicians and singers from various Caribbean islands. They are committed to promoting and preserving Caribbean arts, culture and heritage. Since coming onto the music scene in 1994, they have performed at Madison Square Garden, Jamaica Arts and Music Festival and Lincoln Center. The Concert featuring The Angels Caribbean Band will be held as follows:

The Richard Reiter Quartet
Richard Reiter has excited audiences with his performances of original compositions on saxophone, flute and clarinet for over two decades. Reiter was a soloist in the Broadway show "Dancin'" a guest artist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and has performed with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Johnny Mathis. His band brings familiar standards from the Swing Era to life, including "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "As Time Goes By" and "Sing Sing Sing." Serenade Under the Stars featuring the Richard Reiter Quartet was rescheduled because of inclement weather and will be held as follows:

The Garden State Concert Band
The Garden State Concert Band will present "That's Entertainment" as part of the Essex County Free Summer Music Concert Series. Led by Conductor Dominick Ferrara, the band is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the heritage of the American Concert Band. Their performance is sponsored by the Nicholas Martini Foundation. The Garden State Concert Band will perform as follows:

The Infernos
The Infernos will bring their high-energy performance to the Free Essex County SummerMusic Concert Series on Friday, September 7th. The group performs a variety of musical genres, from Big Band to Motown to hot Jazz and contemporary songs. Lead singer Kenny Simmons previously performed with The Commodores and Quadrant 6. Bobby Wells, the group's founder and leader, formerly served as the musical director of The Duprees when he was just 21 years old. Hometown Night featuring The Infernos was rescheduled due to inclement weather and will be held as follows:

The SummerMusic Concert Series is being presented for the 12th consecutive year by Filippo Berio Olive Oil. The sponsor is Commerce Bank, the media sponsor is News 12 New Jersey, and the series is made possible, in part, by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Concerts are held at accessible sites. Persons who require special accommodations or assistance are asked to call the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs at least two weeks prior to the concert to alert staff as to their needs. Admission to the concerts is free, but there is a $2 parking donation for concerts at Essex County Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair. Please obey local parking ordinances when visiting Essex County Parks.

The Essex County Park System was created in 1895 and is the first county park system in the United States. It has been expanded to include about 6,000 acres of land. There are 17 parks, five reservations, a zoo, ice skating rink, environmental center, roller skating rink, three public golf courses, golf driving range, miniature golf course, two off-leash dog facilities and a castle.
