Kips Castle Special Event Application

Hours of Operation

The grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk. Please feel free to walk around and picnic on the lawn.

The main castle building is home to the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs. Office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm. For information, please call 973-239-2465.

The carriage house consists only of County offices and is not open to the general public.

Because of an extensive renovation project to repair the roof and restore the Tiffany stained glass windows, self-guided tours of the castle and public access has been suspended until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to preserve this historic asset.

Upcoming Events

Directions: 

From the Garden State Parkway: Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 145 for Route 280 West.  Proceed using directions “From Route 280.”

From the NJ Turnpike:  Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 15W for Route 280 West.  Proceed using directions “From Route 280.”

From Route 280:  Take Route 280 to Exit 8B. Follow Prospect Avenue/CR-577 NORTH towards Cedar Grove.  This road turns into Pompton Avenue/Route 23.  Turn RIGHT onto Westover Road. Turn LEFT onto Crestmont Road.
